Anatomy for Figure Drawing

  • Red Door Studios 1427 W 9th St Suite #302 Kansas City, MO, 64101 United States (map)

This is a 4 week class August 17, 24, September 7 and 14, 9am-12noon.

In this class, we will study the major muscles and bones that most affect the surface of the human form. In addition to learning about the overall structure of the figure, students will learn about important bones and muscles, and most importantly will learn how to study anatomy and find it evident in the live figure.

We will study a few parts of the anatomy at a time, learning what the function of each particular muscle or bone is and why it's an important feature in figure drawing. Part of class time will be devoted to anatomical studies, while the rest will focus on drawing the areas of study from the live model to observe the effect of the anatomy first hand.

Upon completion of this class, students will have a better understanding of the structure and function of the human figure and will have the tools to continue more in depth self-study moving forward.
