Four class workshop taught by Lacey Lewis
Class times: 6pm – 8.30pm, Tuesdays in October (Oct 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th)
Fee: $140 per person
Location: InterUrban ArtHouse, 8001 Conser St, Suite 290, Overland Park, KS 66204
This class is ideal for:
- someone who wants to start oil painting for the first time
- experienced artists who want a better sense of depth and form in their work
- anyone wanting to better understand color and paint mixing
Students will first work monochromatically before learning how to understand and classify color in an objective manner. We will discuss how to choose a palette that is appropriate for the subject, how to know which colors to mix in order to achieve the desired result, and how to deviate from the reference in order to create a more compelling image. While this class will be heavy in color theory, concepts regarding composition and materials will also be covered.
In order to make the experience more personal for each individual student, Lacey encourages students to make her aware of any specific subject interests (portraits, figures, landscapes, etc) they may have.
