This class is for those who are interested in drawing realistic portraits from life, photos, or from imagination in graphite and charcoal. We will start by studying the anatomy of individual facial features, learning tips and tricks for how to draw and shade them in a way that gives convincing depth and roundness. From here we will study the structure of the head as a whole, dealing with proportions and unity, and finally to a fully rendered portrait in charcoal from the student’s choice of subjects.
