Classical Figurative Drawing Demonstration
by Lacey Lewis

Figurative Drawing Demo
To further develop and solidify the form, I use a white pastel pencil to add highlights.
Figurative Drawing Head Detail
Here the head has been fully developed with deep shadows and a range of highlights. Directional lines help to define the hair.
Figurative Drawing - Hand
Perhaps my favorite part of the drawing, this area contains examples of many techniques and ideas. Both hard and soft lines, strong and subtle highlights, and deep cast shadows, gentle crest shadows, and reflected light can be seen. Form-defining directional lines are visible on the hand.
Final Figurative Drawing
The finishing touches including limited shading in the drapery and the signature are added, and the drawing is complete! Thank you for following along.
